"Explanation Point" by Rodger Jacobsen was installed at the Litho Street entrance to City Hall in 1982, after being commissioned by Inter-Arts of Marin and the City of Sausalito. According to the County of Marin, "It was part of an Art in Public Places program, sponsored by Public Art Works with funds from the San Francisco Foundation (Buck Trust) and $3,000 from the City of Sausalito. Prior to its dedication, the sculpture was originally titled "Oblique Angle."
